Spacious Place...Happy Meal

Pericope: Matt 15: 29 – 38
Sermon Text: Matt 15: 32 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, I have compassion for these people they have already been with me three days and have nothing eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.
Sermon Title: Happy Meal—Supersized
Point 1: The Master vs. 32 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, I have compassion for these people they have already been with me three days and have nothing eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.
(A) Jesus is concerned about my physical needs as well as my spiritual needs.
(B) Jesus was willing to break the rules for the people. 31 they all praised the God of Israel.
Point 2: The Meal vs. 34 How many loaves do you have? Jesus asked. Now there is a lot of problems with the disciples going on in this verse that escape the naked eye.
(A) Proximity has nothing to do with Jesus is abilities to do something. (A) Ps 139:11, 12 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
(B) Provisions. Notice the disciples only mention they had bread. The disciples don’t mention fish until Jesus asked them how much food they had.
Point 3: The Miracle vss. 35, 36 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. 36 Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people.
(A) Prerequisites In vs. 35 Jesus told the crowd to sit down on the ground. There were some practical reasons Jesus told them to sit down like crowd control…4,000 hungry people all of sudden seeing food could cause a stampede.
(B) Participation Then Jesus required everyone to participate. He broke the bread and prayed over it and then he gave it to the disciples to share.
