Detours, Dead Ends, and Dry Holes

Sermon Text: Ex. 13:22 RSV “The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from the people”.

Point 1: Ex. 13.17 So he took them on a route which took them into the wilderness of the Red Sea, about 100 miles south of Ramases. God let them with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
The sores from the shackles must heal.
Although you are free, you have to believe you are free.
You have to exercise your freedom and rid yourself of the fear of your former taskmaster.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
You have to learn the loving ways of your new Lover who set you free.
1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
Rom. 8:1-15 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. For ye have received the spirit of adoption, where we cry Abba Father.
1 Cor. 10:13b - God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able to bear”; So, God in his infinite love detours us around battles we are unaware that lie just a step away.

Point 2: Dead End Sign: When you proceed you may run into God’s Dead End Sign (Exodus 14:10-20)
Murmuring is praising the Devil.
1.  Stand still…
2.  Hush/Quiet...
3.  Then…

Point 3: DRY HOLE -  God led them through the Dead End to a Dry Hole Exodus 15:22-27
Keep following because your bitter situation is about to turn sweet.

The More Things Change…

Proverbs 19: 21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it the Lords purpose that will prevail.

Point 1: Abiding is a biblical principle that gets results when God is trying to make your plans better. Luke 2: 8 And there were shepherds living [abiding] out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
a)  Revelation…
b)  Resources…
c)   Reward…

Point 2: Just because God changes your plans doesn't mean it is going to be easy. Luke 9: 62 Jesus said No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God. Phil 3: 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Point 3: Our Journey His-story has been one of turns and twist of FAITH not fait. Exodus 33: 14 God said, "My presence will go with you. I'll see the journey to the end."

Life Application:
1.   Give…
2.   Tell…
3.   If you are 8:30 DO NOT TELL ANYONE OR FB/TEXT/ETC.
