The Need is Real!

Pericope:  Mark 11:1-10 RSV - And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Beth′phage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, 2 and said to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat; untie it and bring it. 3 If any one says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’” 4 And they went away, and found a colt tied at the door out in the open street; and they untied it. 5 And those who stood there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” 6 And they told them what Jesus had said; and they let them go. 7 And they brought the colt to Jesus…

Sermon Text:  Mark 11:  3 If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’”

Sermon Title:  The Need is Real!

Point 1: Specific placevs. 2 and said to them, “Go into the village… you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat; untie it and bring it

Point 2: Specific timevs. 2b you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat;

Vs 3…3 If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’”

We have a small window of opportunity to respond to the needs of Jesus.  You don’t have forever to live for Jesus.

Point 3: Specific job…Vs 7 7 And they brought the colt to Jesus… and threw their garments on it; and he sat upon it.

It was prophetic.  Zechariah 9: 9… See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

You got one job to do! Fulfill the needs of Jesus! Jesus needs you to carry out his work in the earth. He said greater works shall we do. John 14:12

12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. He needs you but God can do it without you so don’t get arrogant.

Conclusion: New Life God has called us to meet the many needs in this community.

For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” 7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” 10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” 11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
