Paying It Forward: Eternalizing My Money!

Sermon Text: Matt 6: 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
  
Point 1: Master or Money Matt 6: 24.  No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

a.   1 Tim 6:19 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. Firm foundation Where is this firm foundation?

b.   Phil 4: 17 Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. Heavenly account--It will be paid for by what you give here on earth…

c.   Luke 12:  32 - 34 Do not be afraid…(33) Sell your possessions…Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted.

d. Rev. 14: 13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”;

e. Luke 16:8-9 - 8 “The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light. 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

f. John 14:2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?

Point 2: Eternal Investments
a.   Tithes Malachi 3: 10…bring the whole tithes…test me in this…I will pour out a blessing…

b.   Offerings Exodus 36: 4 - 6…and the people were restrained from bringing more…[they] had more than enough

c.   Giving to the poor Proverbs 19: 17 "If you help the poor you are lending to the Lord--and he will repay you!"

d.   My deeds Ephesians 2: 10…created to do good works
  
Point 3: Eternal Rewards Rev 20: 6 …[we] will reign with him for a thousand years
a.   Crown of life given for faithfulness James 1: 12…he will receive the crown of life

b.   Incorruptible Crown given for determination 1 Cor 9: 24…only one gets the prize…25…we do it to get the crown that will last forever…

c.   Crown of glory spiritual leadership 1 Peter 5: 1 - 4…serving…because you are willing…not greedy for money…you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. 

d.   Crown of righteousness for purifying and readying yourself for Christ return 2 Tim 4: 6 - 8…there is in store for me the crown of righteousness…not only for me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing

1 Cor 3: 13 - 15 …if what he has built survives he will receive his reward… 2 John 8 watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for but that you may be rewarded fully. Luke 19: 17 Well done…take charge of 10 cities, 19…You take charge of 5 cities, 26…who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away…

Point 4: Eternal Motives Luke 6: 23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how is how their fathers treated the prophets.
