Mountainside - Spacious Place...10/14/2011

Mountainside – Spacious Place
Devotional by Sis. Tonya Ward (edited by Bishop Dudley)
October 14, 2011

Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.”(Gen 15:29)

Jesus had been ministering on the mountainside with the Gentiles for 3 days. He had healed the lame, blind and sick. (Gen 15:29-38) This caused the people who were not followers of Christ to Praise the God of Israel (Gen 15:29). 4000 people of all races, situations, needs, attitudes, and financial levels were present. They had been there waiting, trusting God would be able to meet their spiritual and physical needs in spite of the multitude.

Compassion compelled Jesus to meet their natural needs as well as their spiritual needs. (Luke 12:28) If…God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today…tomorrow, is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you…!). Wow, three days in the heat, dusty plains neck and neck with 3999 others. Some may smell of liquor, not bathed or acting outright vulgar. But the word says (Isa 40:31) But they that wait upon the LORD shall be…).

As we go to the Spacious Place, let us not hold on to the lack but let us embrace the fullness of God. For as we see He has More than enough, no need to push, step on or quarrel there is plenty cattle on the hill for everyone.

Lord, increase my faith, and forgive my unbelief, teach me to live in your spacious place where there is fullness of joy, for all things for this life and to come. Help me to be obedient, prudent, kind and a good steward with your provisions you have given me knowing that Jehovah-Jireh, you Lord will provide! In Jesus name, Amen!
