Sermon Text: Isaiah 38:2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD,

Sermon Title:  Prayer That Gets God’s Attention

Point 1:  Prayer that is heartfelt, sincere and gut wrenching. 

Point 2:  Prayer that has feet on it vs. 21 - Isaiah had said, "Prepare a poultice of figs and apply it to the boil, and he will recover."

Point 3:  Prayer backed up with a life of faithfulness vs. 3 "Remember, O LORD, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes." 

Point 4: Hezekiah prayer had purpose.

God answered:
With a word: vv 4, 5, 6 Then the word of the LORD came to Isaiah: 5 "Go and tell Hezekiah, 'This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life. 6 And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.
A sign:  vv 7, 8 7 " 'This is the LORD's sign to you that the LORD will do what he has promised: 8 I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.' “So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had gone down.


A response:  vs. 5 "Go and tell Hezekiah, 'This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.

Point 1: Don’t do as she didvs. 3, 5 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with a plea…(5) yet because this widow keeps bothering me
Point 2: It's not how many times you say it…vs. 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me…so that when won't eventually wear me out with her coming!
Matt 6: 7, 8 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. (8) Do not be like them for your father know what you need before you ask him.

Sermon Text: 1 Kings 3: 9 “So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

Sermon Title: Living on the Edge: The Edge of Greatness

Point 1: Acknowledge God vs. 7 Now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.

Point 2: Ask for help vs. 9 “So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

Point 3: Accept help from God help vs. 12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning hear, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.

Point 4: Acquiring success will happen vs. 13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both riches and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among the kings.

Living on the Edge: My Deliverance Will Come

Sermon Text: Exodus 14: 31 And when the Israelites saw the great power the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and Moses his servant.

Sermon Title: Living on the Edge: My Deliverance Will Come

Point 1: The Edge of Deliverance also means the edge of desaster
vs. 10(a) As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them.

Point 2: God is the conductor vss. 17, 18 I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them…(18) The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh…

Point 3: Dismiss your fear vs. 13…Do not be afraid
