Redemption Revealed: Paid in Full!

Redemption Revealed:  Paid in Full!
Resurrection Sunday, March 31, 2013
Luke 23:46 - Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

1: Every comma has a pause vs. 46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, Father, into your hands I commit my spirit”  When he had said this he breathed his last.
1 Cor. 15:54b-57 - Death has been swallowed up in victory.”[h] 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”[i]  56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
When Jesus defeated death you are:
a)  Free from fear
b)  My future finalized in eternity
2.  Every comma has a cause vs. 46
Eph. 4:8-10 - 8 This is why it[a] says:
“When he ascended on high,  he took many captives  and gave gifts to his people.”[b]  9 (What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions[c]? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.);
Col. 2:15 - 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.[a]
a)  Satan has no more power over you.
b)  Satan can only deceive you about God’s word…”did God really say.”
3.  After the pause comes our cause.
John 20:19-22 - 19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. 21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
Now Jesus gives us his breath to:
a)  Serve others.
b)  Have power over sin
c)  Praise his name.
d)  Return to our dominion status like we had with the first breath we got

Redemption Revealed: The Redeemer is Coming

Sermon Text: Mark 11: 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord

Sermon Title: Redemption Revealed: The Redeemer is Coming

Point 1: Reversed the order vs. 2, 7 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. When Jesus rode the donkey into Jerusalem he reversed the order.
There is one more thing that you have to see in vs. 2. The donkey was borrowed and in vs. 3 Jesus returned it. It occurred to me Jesus was always borrowing and returning.

Point 2: Related to people. Vs. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Clearly Jesus was a man of the people. People loved Jesus.

Romans 7: 14ff

Point 3: Ripped up religion vs. 15, 16 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple area and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts.   Second to Sin what separates man from God is religion.

Remember what Jesus said Take my yoke and learn of me for my yoke is easy and burden is light.

THE NON-REDEEMABLE ZONE 11AM

Sermon Text: Ephesians 1: 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

Sermon Title: The Non-Redeemable Zone

Point 1: Accept the fact you have been forgiven. Vs. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

Definition: Forgiven the forgiveness of sinsGreek, “the remission of our transgressions”: not merely forgiveness…it includes not only deliverance from sin’s penalty, but from its pollution and enslaving power, negatively; AND the reconciliation of an offended God, AND a satisfaction unto a just God, positively. Colossians 1: 13–14God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He’s set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much, the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating

Point 2: The verdict is in not guilty

Definition: redemptionGreek, our (literally, ‘the’) redemption”; the redemption which is the grand subject…namely, from the power, guilt, and penal consequences of sin (Mt 1:21). If a man were unable to redeem himself from being a bond-servant, his kinsman might redeem him (Le 25:48).

Point 3: What’s His is mine and what’s mine is His. Fully Vested vs. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of

The payment  through his blood—(Eph 2:13); as the instrument; the propitiation, that is, the consideration for which He, who was justly angry (Is 12:1), becomes a substitute the price paid to divine justice for our sin

Point 4: Freedom to live a new and different life. I am a work of art. Ephesians 2: 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Jesus Christ to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do

“IN CHRIST WE HAVE REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD…” declares the Word of God. (Ephesians 1:7)

Sermon Title: The Non Refundable Zone

Point 1: Purchased vs. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

redemptionGreek, our (literally, ‘the’) redemption”; the redemption namely, from the power, guilt, and penal consequences of sin (Mt 1:21). If a man were unable to redeem himself from being a bondservant, his kinsman might redeem him (Le 25:48). Hence, the Son of God became the Son of man, that as our kinsman He might redeem us (Mt 20:28).

Point 2: Possession God purchased us not just so He could free us from sin but posses us.

Point 3: We are God’s workmanship. We are Repurposed I am a work of art. Ephesians 2: 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Jesus Christ to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Redemption Revealed: I am Redeemable!

Sermon Text: Ephesians 1: 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
Sermon Title: Redemption Revealed: I am Redeemable!
Point 1: Wealthy! Sunday we said God is wealthy in grace! Tonight we say: God’s grace has no limits Phil 4: 19 my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory. 1 Timothy 1: 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out upon me abundantly… 2 Cor. 12: 9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Point 2: Worthless To be worthless does not mean you are worthless. I couldn’t pay for myself but I am worth every penny to God. Romans 4: 16 Therefore the promises come by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all… 9: 16 It does not depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy, Titus 3: 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit
Point 3: Worthy God deserves our praise. vs. 3 Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. God deserves our praise. Are you stuff rich and spiritual blessings poor? What Paul means in the text is we receive something tangible from God through the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5: 22 the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.
Point 4: Workmanship I am a piece of work. I am a work of art. Ephesians 2: 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Jesus Christ to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Conclusion:
·       Remember when I feel worthless I am priceless
·       Remind others the price paid for our sins
·       Register for a ministry in the foyer
·       Request someone to come to church Holy Week to hear the gospel…they are redeemable and priceless

Redemption Revealed: PRICELESS!

Title: Redemption Revealed: PRICELESS!

Sermon Text: Ephesians 1: 7 - 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

Point 1: God is wealthy in grace! Vs. 7 - 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness

Ephesians 1:7-8a - 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us.).

Romans 5: 20 - 20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,

Point 2: Worthless To be worthless does not mean you are worthless.  To be worthless only means you are at a price someone is not willing to pay. Therefore you are worth less than an amount they would offer. This only sets you up to be paid for by someone who is willing to pay the price. We are redeemable.

1 Cor. 6: 19, 20 - 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Exodus 12:12-13 - 12 “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.

Point 3: Worthy God deserves our praise vs. 3 Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

I Peter 1:18-19 says, “Forasmuch as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold…

Point 4: Workmanship I am a piece of work.

Eph 2: 10 - 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Priceless To Do List

·        Remember when I feel worthless I am priceless

·        Remind others the price paid for our sins

·        Register for a ministry in the foyer

·        Request someone to come to church Holy Week to hear about how they are redeemed…priceless
