WWJD: Dream Job

Sermon Text: Colossians 3: 23 Whatever you do. Work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord not for men.
Sermon Title: WWJD: Dream Job
Review/Introduction: Wednesday I raised the question what would Jesus do with your job. My answer was Use your hands to make you a millionaire providing you follow some basic biblical principles. The principles were (1) work all day, (2) work without entanglement (3) work with your eyes on your work, (4) work knowing what’s for you is for you (5) work like you are hungry.
Text: Genesis 40: 6 – 8 When Joseph came to them the next morning he saw they were dejected. (7) So he asked Pharaoh’s officials who were in custody with him in his master’s house, “Why are your faces so sad today?” (8) We both had dreams, “they answered, “but there is no one to interpret them.” Then Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams.”
Point 1: Work all day Gen 39: Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. (5) From that time on he put him in charge of his household…the Lord blessed the household of Potiphar because of Joseph… Joseph was purchased by Potiphar to be a slave around the house. Joseph worked as a slave but as if God was his boss. He received a promotion to attendant. He continued to work like God was his boss.
Point 2: Work without entanglement Gen 39: 10 And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her. The favor on Joseph life attracted profitability as well as Potiphar’s wife. Favor has a certain attraction. Many times you think someone is attracted to you, but in fact they are attracted to God’s favor on your life. Favor is like the sun. It has a gravitational pull.
Point 3: Work with your eyes on your work Gen 40: 23; 41: 1 The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him. When two full years had passed, Pharaoh had a dream… This was a perfect time for Joseph to give up.
Point 4: Work knowing what’s for you is for you Gen 41: 39, 40 (16) Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. (40) You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders… (16) “I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires. ”After years of being mistreated, over looked and forgotten about Joseph had his turn to get out of prison.
Point 5: Work like you are hungry your dream will come true Gen 42: 6b…So when Joseph’s brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground. “As soon as Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them, but he pretended to be a stranger…As Joseph predicted a famine over took the land. People were starving every where. Joseph’s family was in the neighboring country starving as well.
Conclusion: THEREFORE EVERY JOB IS A DREAM JOB. Apply these practical applications:
(1)        You must work like you are working for God not man…you are a millionaire in the making—US Dept. of Labor
(2)        Even if you do not have a job, unjustly fired, released because they sent your job to China, downsized, etc.
a.  God has another job
b.   Don't get bitter get better
c.   God will work it together for your good (4.1 years@ 7 to 10 jobs US Dept. of Labor)
(3)        Tell your hands, your head or both TO GO TO WORK
(4)        Invite God into your situation/job or into your life
