Lost & Found: Which Way Am I Going?

Sermon Text: Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord…
Sermon Title: Lost & Found: Which Way Am I Going?
Point 1: The Children of Israel Exodus 3: 18b Let us take a three day journey…; 13: 21 By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give light, so they could travel by day or night; Numbers 14: 34 For forty years--one year for each of each day you explored the land…
The direction they took when they heard giants were on the Promised Land was the actual path they followed. Numbers 13: 33…we seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes Their intentions failed them. They also wanted water Exodus 17: 5…Strike the rock and water will come out… Exodus 16: 4…I will rain down bread from heaven (12) That evening quail came and covered the ground… [I don’t know how you get sick of a miracle but I digress] Point 2: Solomon 1 Kings 3: 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people…I will give you a wise and discerning heart…moreover I will give you what you have not asked for--both riches and honor…
Point 3: Jonah Jonah 1: 2, 3 Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it…(3) But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish…
He became emotional about his direction in life. Jonah 4: 1 Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry  Jonah 1: 4, 5, 15 Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea…(5) All the sailors were afraid…(15) Then they cried to the Lord please don’t let us die [because of Jonah] Proverbs 16: 9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.
Point 4: Paul Acts 9: 1, 3, 18 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples…(3) As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. (18) Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again, He got up and was baptized.
Life Application: After you discover you are traveling on life's map and you are not certain which way you are going then you need to do the following.
1.  Change directions by changing the choices you make Joshua 24: 15 choose you this day whom you will serve…
2.  Ask for directions when you are not sure James 1: 5 Anyone lacks wisdom he should ask God who gives it generously
3.  Turn around when Acts 3: 19 Repent [turn around] and be converted…

Lost & Found: Where is Jesus…On Board!

Sermon Text:  Mark 4:35-41
Sermon Title: Lost & Found: Where is Jesus…On Board!
Context Text: Jesus and his disciples are on their way to the other side of the lake. Jesus has just taught them a series of parables on the kingdom of God. Point 1:  It was Jesus idea to go into the storm!   vs. 35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”
The text even says in Matt. 8: 24 Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lace… Point 2:  Jesus is on board.  vs. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
Well the text confirms the trouble…vs. 37 a furious squall came up and the waves broke over the boast, so it was nearly swamped. Matt 8: 24…the waves swept over the boat…Luke 8: 23 said they were in great danger… Point 3:  Jesus requires attention vs. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
Point 4:  Jesus demands we have faith   vs. 40  He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Conclusion: If you are having a tough time believe Jesus is going to help you.

Move in Me

Move in Me
John 11:33b, 38

John 11:1-6, 17, 20, 28-29, 32-38
11 Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. (This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.) So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.”
When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness (this situation, circumstance, this chain of events) will not end in death.  No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days,
17 On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days.
20 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.
28 After she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. “The Teacher is here,” she said, “and is asking for you.” 29 When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to him.
32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked.
“Come and see, Lord,” they replied.
35 Jesus wept.
36 Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!”
37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?”
38 Jesus, once more deeply movedcame to the tomb
