Sermon Text: Luke 2: 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who hear it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.

Sermon Title: MTM: The Mission of the Manger  

Point I: Is Found in the Place of Birth vs. 8, 15 - 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” 

Psalm 40 - I have come to do your will, O God. God had predicted in Micah and Isaiah - “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

Point 2: Is Found in the Price vs. 14 - “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Isaiah 53 when he says, it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. 11 After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.

Point 3: Is Fulfilled in the Person vs. 16 -  So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.
