Sermon Text:  Luke 10: 33 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion.

Sermon TitleLike A Good Neighbor…Pt 3 Serving Thankfully

Point 1. The Sympathetic Samaritan vs 34 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him.

5 Actions of Compassion
Ø Compassion is the catalyst to real ministry
Ø Compassion is based on need not worth
Ø Compassion feels something
Ø Compassion does something
Ø Compassion cost something

Point 2. The Caring Inn Keeper vs 35 35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’
Ø Courageous - He could have lost customers dealing with the wrong nationality. He could've invited trouble if the attacker knew the man wasn't dead.
Ø Challenge - He rises up to the challenge. When confronted with the moment he didn't shrink.
Ø Completely honest - The innkeeper didn't spend more money. Given the lost time he lost money

Point 3. The Serving Savior vs 3636 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?”

7 requirements for serving
Ø Your created to serve Eph 2:10 - For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ø Proves you belong to Christ Roman 7:4 - So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.
Ø Serving Others Serves God – Matthew 25: 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’
Ø You owe God Rom 12:1 - Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
Ø Best use of you 1 Cor 15:58 - Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Ø Make life meaningful Mark 5:35 35 While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

Ø You will be rewarded John 12:26 - Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.                   Matthew 25:21 - “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
