Sermon Title: Unlikely Gifts of Christmas: Don’t Get Rid of Herod

Point 1: No evil then there is no good vs 3 - 3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;

Point 2: Evil reminds us we need a new ruler. Vs 8 - 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.”

Point 3: Evil reminds us we have to go a different way vs. 12 And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Matt 4: 4, 7, 10 - 4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ 7 Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’””

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
