Eight Steps to Becoming An Intentional Man

1.   Be generous with your time and talent and treasure

o  Give and it will be given to you – Luke: 6:38 38 give and it will begiven to you.  A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into you lap.  For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you

o  God is not mocked – Galatians 6:7 7 Be not deceived; God cannot be mocked.  A man reaps what he sows

2.   Never miss an opportunity to improve yourself –

o  1 Corinthians 11:28 11 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup

3.   Pursue relationships that will make you better, iron sharpens iron

o  Proverbs 27:17 17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another

4.   Study the word like our life depended on it.  Study to show thyself approved

o  2 Timothy 2:15 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth

5.   Encourage other men and tell your story

o  Act 15:12 12 The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them

o  John 1:45 45 Philip found Nathaniel and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote – Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

6.   Be willing to serve at any level to be great at all levels

o  John 13:6-9 6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” 7Jesus replied, “Your do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” 8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall not wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part of me.” 9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well.”

7.   Lead follow or get out of the way.

o  Genesis 2:22 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

o  Genesis 3:9 9 But the Lord called to the man, “Where are you?”

o  Ephesians 5:33 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband

8.   Know who you are and whose you are

o  Fearfully and wonderfully made

§  Psalms 139:14 14 I praise you because I am fearfully a nd wonderfully made; your works are wonderful well.

§  Genesis 2:7, 20 7 Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam, no suitable helper was found.

o  Live, move and have your being

§  Acts 17:28 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your won poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
