Wait For It!

 

Pericope:  Luke 2:25-35 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, 28 he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,

29 “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace,

    according to your word;

30 for my eyes have seen your salvation

31     that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,

Sermon Text: Luke 2: 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

Sermon Title: Wait For It!

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Isaiah 30:18 The Lord God is waiting to show how kind he is and to have pity on you. The Lord always does right; he blesses those who trust him.

Point 1: The Promise of the Wait – vs. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

Point 2: The Fruit of the Wait – vs. 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation

        25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 

Point 3: The Results of the Wait – vs. 28 he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,

        John 16:21

Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world.

Point 4: The Reveal of the Wait – vs. 31     that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”

Verse 29 “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word;

Life Application:

1.  Hold on to the promises of God

2.  Attach a scripture to the promise which is the fertilizer of the fruit of the Spirit.

3.  Your baby reveal party has a save the date you just got to wait.
