Gods got it Part 5

Pericope: 1 Sam 1:3-8
Sermon Text:  1 Samuel 1:11  And she made a vow, saying, “LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”
Sermon Title:  God’s God It: Pt 5 How Do I Receive It?
BP:  Move the hearers to follow the biblical principles so they can get what God had for them.
Point 1:  Get rid of what’s holding on to you.  vs. 7-8 This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat. 8 Her husband Elkanah would say to her, “Hannah, why are you weeping? Why don’t you eat? Why are you downhearted? Don’t I mean more to you than ten sons?”
• 1 Corinthians 11:31 KJV For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
The Message - If you give no thought (or worse, don’t care) about the broken body of the Master when you eat and drink, you’re running the risk of serious consequences. That’s why so many of you even now are listless and sick, and others have gone to an early grave. If we get this straight now, we won’t have to be straightened out later on. Better to be confronted by the Master now than to face a fiery confrontation later.
Point 2:  Get Empty so you can get Full – vs.
• Psalm 51:17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.
• 2 Timothy 2:21  Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.
Point 3:  Give so you can get1 Samuel 1:28  So now I give him to the LORD
• Galatians 6:7, 9 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
• 2 Corinthians 9:6-8  Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all timeshaving all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
