Pericope: Matt 1: 18 – 24
Sermon Text: Matthew 1:21-2321 She will bear a son, and
you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All
this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the
prophet: 23 “Look, the virgin shall
conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,”; Isaiah 7:10-14 - 10
Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, saying, 11 Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let
it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven. 12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, and I
will not put the Lord to the test. 13 Then Isaiah[a] said: “Hear then, O house
of David! Is it too little for you to weary mortals, that you weary my God
also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young
woman[b] is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.[c]

Point 1: To be sin’s CONQUEROR:
He came to satisfy the God’s Justice and break sin’s power: HE LIBERATED US!

The word “paraclaytos” (gr) spoken of in John 14:16 When you are weak he makes

1. He said he will never
leave you…what can man do to you Hebrews 13: 5, 6

will keep me safe…hide me…set me on a rock Psalm 27: 5
3. The Lord shall keep your
coming and you’re going…he keep Israel will not sleep Psalm 121
4. The Lord will wipe away
the tears Isaiah 25: 8
Point 3: To be our COURAGE:
1. Greater is he that is in
you than he that is in the world John 4: 4
2. If God is for you who can
be against you Romans 8: 31
3. For the Lord is our
shepherd Psalms 23
4. He has not given you a
spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind 1 Tim 1: 7
