The Simplicity of First Fruits OUTLINE

Review: Last Sunday we established the facts about first fruits, the faith of first fruit and the function of first fruit. Wednesday night LC@AL we put first fruit in the overall context of giving…7 ways to give.
Give in the way that there will be no meat/ministry in God’s house unless you give.
Give in a way that reflects you know God put something in your hand.
Give in a way you know God in moment can blow everything you have away.
Give in a way you know it’s about order of priority not putting church over helping the less fortunate.
Give in a way that you know every gift to the kingdom is an investment into eternity.
Give in a way that shows you are ready, excited and willing to give without delay.
Give in a way you have full assurance God is going to take care of all our needs according to his riches in glory.
Sermon Text: Genesis 4: 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”

Sermon Title: The Simplicity of First Fruit!
Point 1: It is offering time. Vss. 3 & 4 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock…
Paul put it this way 2 Cor 9: 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves the cheerful giver.

Point 2: God respond to the offering. Vss. 4 & 5 The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor.
Cain was a farmer and Abel was a herdsman. In fact Cain’s name means “to get,” or “to create.” The name is given as praise to God. Cain by virtue of his name is well thought of and has destiny on his life. Abel’s name means “vapor, nothingness” without the possibility of life.

Point 3: Cain’s reaction to God. Vs. 6 Then the Lord said to Cain Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”
(a) Cain ignores God.
(b) Cain blames others.
(c) Cain shows how he really feels.
(d) Cain passes up an opportunity to please God.
