The Spirit of Trump Outline


Pericope: 1 John 4: 1 – 6
Sermon Text: 1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Sermon Title: The Spirit of Trump
Point 1: Spirit of racism Gen 9:25 he said, “Cursed be Canaan!
The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.”
Point 2: Spirit of division Luke 11:17 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.
Point 3: Spirit of false prophesy vs. 1 John 4:1(b) but test the spirits to see whether they are from God
Point 4: Spirit of love vs. 18 - There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Life Applications
1. Walk…in the Spirit
2. Live…a life of love
3. Let…God handle it in the mean-time register and vote
