Just Do It! The Seed

Sermon Text: Hebrews 11: 17(b) He who had received promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,

Sermon Title: Just Do it! The Seed

Point 1: The seed must be sown Genesis 18: 10 – 12 Then the Lord said, I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son. Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. (11) Abraham and Sarah were already old and well advanced in years and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. (12) So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?”

Point 2: The soil must be good Genesis 18: 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son.”

Matt 13: 5ff A famer went out to sow his seed. (4) As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. (5) Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. (6) But when the sun came up, the plants scorched, and they withered because they had no root. (7) Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. (8) Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

Point 3: The sacrifice must be right vs.17(b) He who had received promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,

John 12: 24 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.

Rom 11: 16 if the first is holy then the lump [rest] is holy… God gave his first fruit, which was Jesus according to James 1: 18
